Our mountain range, especially the Kankahanay mountain, is being exploited by the boys under the protective umbrella of the current mayor. Some of them are policemen and some are ordinary folks acting like gangsters. I am happy that most of the kidnappers were locked in jail and were unable to take part in the exploits of our God given natural richness. The present mayor can be likened to a good samaritan during day time but acts like more than a theft by night. Look and observe what is happening to our rivers! The kabayungan river and all other secondary rivers going to Brgy Sta Cruz are also dying. This is a clear indication that something bad upstream is happening. I also heard a lot of stories about lumbers and logs carried downstream through Kabayungan river only to be intercepted by policemen loyal to the mayor. These policemen are acting in dual personality. They are the good policemen because they are intercepting the illegally cut logs entering Jaro from the west (upstream of Kabayungan river) and, at the same time, they are also the bad policemen because they were the ones safekeeping and marketing, through some middlemen, the confiscated logs and lumbers. The loggers and the policemen are actually doing illegal business in concert. The mayor owns considerable agricultural farm lands in Jaro taking advantage of the local residents' need for money. These money, however, were fruits of illegal activities like kidnapping and illicit drug trades. His business in the Big Mike is just a front to justify the accumulation of wealth. He must be convicted of Money Laundering in short for he is now engaging in a legal business using illegal capital. Why his younger brother was killed a few years back posed a lot of questions. Maybe it is your turn now to dig deeper into the issue to know first hand the real issues. This post is not meant to destroy somebody, my intent is just to expose the truth of what is really happening now right there in my beloved hometown in order for the good Jaronians to be aware of so that they will become wiser in the future especially when choosing a leader.
